Pancit Bam-i (C2 Classic Cuisine)
We got invited by DK to the opening of C2 at Greenhills. This dish looks like Palabok and I really don’t know what’s the difference but I must say this is yummy and it’s a really big serving.

Brazo de Mercedes (1851 Club, BPI Head Office, Makati City)
One of my favorite cakes in the whole wide world. The lightness of the cake is like a slice of heaven, forgive the cliché. This is among the best I’ve tasted. Plus it was free. No complaints there.

Cheezy Potatoes with Turbo Grilled Chicken (Homemade, San Juan City)
This is what I would call a fortunate mistake. Warning, this takes time to make because I boil the potatoes first and then bake them. I used Cheez Whiz and quickmelt cheese with ham bits for the potatoes. I was too lazy to use a different container so the chicken juice and the cheesy sauce mixed and the result was rather delish. Good for a salty fix.

Tomato and Eggplant Pasta (Homemade, San Juan City)
Quick, cheap, and so perfect for office baon. I overcooked the noodles a little bit, if you can see they’re quite plump. But overall, my officemates’ verdict is yummy! Don’t be a scrooge with the cheese, ha.

Grilled Angus beef belly, Butcher’s Best Barbeque (Cagayan de Oro City)
Guess how much? P75 for one serving! Beats the hell out of the overpriced meat anywhere else in the country, noh? It’s juicy, not rubbery, chargrilled to perfection. Makes me want to visit CDO again next year!

Fried boneless bangus, Rio Bar & Grill (Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City)
Omelet with bangus? It works! The buttered vegetables on the side were surprisingly yummy (who eats side dishes anyways? At least I did). The java rice felt better than plain on this combo.

Good Morning, Pilipinas! MOMO Cafe, Libis
Ulam-overload! You’ll need extra rice to finish the entire serving. The meal is a combo of your tapsi/longsilog. In this case, I recommend this meal to Penny because no matter what she eats she’s still all skin and bones. LOL.

Grilled Lapu-Lapu Fillet, Mogwai (Cubao X, Quezon City)
Don’t be fooled by the apparent health benefit of fish from the grill and those asparagus strips on top. Forget the vitamin C from that huge wedge of lemon on the side. Those are pure deadly, generously buttered mashed potatoes underneath. When it’s from Mogwai, expect something to hurt in your liver, heart, or soul.

Breakfast Grand Slammer, MOMO Cafe, Libis

Late breakfast at 1pm. The meal was split to two not because of diet issues but due to purezaness. Supposedly it consists of 2 Sausages, 2 bacon strips, a choice of sunny side up or scrambled eggs and 4 pancakes topped with whip cream. There’s also a separate serving of 2 cubes of butter, syrup and some fruits. Whole meal costs P375.00. Not bad, huh? Also is MOMO short for Make Out, Make Out Cafe?? Never bothered to ask because I was so hungry. :))

Vanilla Ice Cream, C2 (C3 Events Place, Greenhills)
Cult classic. I missed asking, but I now thought of a reason why it was so fine and creamy in a non-Selecta/Magnolia kind of way—twas possibly house ice cream! But you really won’t even have those concerns when you begin to dig in with one of those teaspoons.

Chilean Salmon with Grilled Vegetables,The Continental Restaurant, The Palms Country Club, Alabang
This is what I ordered for our first lunch after picking up the Miss Earth candidates at NAIA Terminal 3 last Tuesday. Probably the best salmon I’ve had in a while. It’s slightly sweet and juicy in a way that won’t clog your arteries. The grilled vegetables were pretty good, too. The sauce, however was the real draw here.

Minatamis na Saba, homemade (Loyola Heights, QC)
When I was in high school, I lived for a while with a classmate’s family. His dad loved making whole minatamis na saba. I merely cut them into fours in this replication; the syrup isn’t as clear, and I think a little hint of vanilla might have helped. Never mind that the bunch I brought from home had some laas (the hard part on the surface in contact with the peel), this simple dessert is just as hearty as ever. What more in a glass of halo-halo?!

Waiters in Converse Chucks will be serving you these, placed on a wooden board, while you wait for your order.

McDonald’s Hotcake with Strawberry Preserve ( McDonald’s 32nd and 5th, Bonifacio Global City )

This is the hotcake at McDo, but this time instead of the usual butter and maple syrup topping, it is topped with butter and Strawberry Preserve. FYI, the Strawberry Preserve at this branch is free unlike in the other branches. Try in on Hash Brown as well - I know its weird, but it gives a different flavor than the usual Hash Brown and ketchup combo.
